An Evening with Debbie Macomber

Picture
On Thursday, May 6th, I dragged my mom and P.I. out to Palm Desert to spend an evening with Debbie Macomber and - wow - she is a wonderful speaker!  I'm a big fan of her books and have been waiting for a chance to see her at an event and was not going to pass up the chance to see her when she was so close to my home. Debbie is such an inspiration to women and authors - listening to her struggle for a successful writing career was amazing. We stayed late to have a chance to get a book signed and meet her - she is so warm and friendly and was very encouraging to us about our own writing. My mom and P.I. were so very impressed with her and so glad that we all drove out deep into the California desert that night.

L.A. Times Festival of Books

Authors P.I. Barrington and Kris Neri share a laugh at the Sisters in Crime booth, Saturday April 24th, 2010 ~ what a beautiful, sunny day at the fabulous UCLA campus.

I met Carol Higgins Clark!!!!!

Picture
Yep - that's my big mouth talking up a storm to the wonderful Carol Higgins Clark! P.I. and I had the wonderful opportunity to meet Carol and her fabulous mother Mary at the L.A. Times Festival of Books on Saturday, April 24th. These ladies are so talented and gracious, and Carol was so nice to give me a few moments of her time. I'm a big fan of hers and my mom has read (and re-read) every one of her mom's books that meeting her was a very special treat. My mom couldn't make it the festival - too hard for her to walk around - but I relayed her thanks to Mary for the wonderful books.
